The International Day of Education is celebrated every 24th of January each year. This day aims to improve the quality of education worldwide. Various organisations, governments, communities, academic associations, and even the private sector participate in the celebration of this day by promoting the right of every person to education.

Education plays a critical role in eliminating poverty and illiteracy. Through education, people can get employed, develop their skills, improve their health and sanitation, improve their living standards, and ultimately, contribute towards their society’s economic development. Education is one of the top solutions for various social issues. It is actually considered as the most important factor for the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

About the International Day of Education

The International Day of Education is a culmination of the world’s will to improve the standards of education and eliminate illiteracy. History

On December 3, the United National General Assembly adopted a resolution to make the 24th of January as the International Day of Education starting from 2022. The decision was made during the Global Education Meet held at Brussels, Belgium from December 3 to 5.
