Economist Day

June 2, Economist Day

The Economist Day is celebrated in Buenos Aires, Argentina every 2nd of June each year. This day gives honor to all economists out there and also celebrates the field of economics. Economics deserves love, respect, and understanding from the people because, without it, our markets and government operations would have failed.

In addition, Economists deserve to be respected also during this day (which is basically dedicated to them) for their years of study to understand economies and give extremely helpful advice on what policies should be made in the economy.

Economics Day is our annual celebration to recognize outstanding achievements by undergraduate and graduate students and exemplary teaching by economics faculty. It is made possible by the generosity of the Department of Economics and Penn Institute for Economic Research with the generous support of the W. P. Carey Foundation and E. B. Cohen Insurance and Risk Management.

History

Unfortunately, even with extensive research about this holiday, we are not sure how it started or even who founded it. But still, we can make a good guess as to the reason why this celebration began. Perhaps a person or a group of people thought that there are different kinds of holidays dedicated to different kinds of professions. Economists also deserve a special day dedicated for them and hence, the Economist Day was founded.
