It was Daniel Peter who invented the milk chocolate. He was born in the Moudon Village located in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. Later in life, he developed a strong friendship with a man named Henry Nestle, his neighbor. The latter was used into making baby food containing milky flour. With that came the idea to Daniel Peter of making chocolate that contains milk.
Such an idea became an obsession to Peter. That time, the chocolate industry was dominated by Suchard, Caliller, Kohler, and others. Because of this, Peter was interested in competing by making a variety of chocolate that contains milk. He did so in a community called Vevey at a very young age – 23 years old. Milk chocolate eventually became popular in Europe. Nowadays, milk chocolate is so popular and it has become one of the most favorite chocolates by humans.
The Milk Chocolate Day was founded by the Confectioner’s Association because of our extreme love for milk chocolate. Yes, we do love all sorts of chocolates but this one stands out. Hence, we dedicate a special day just for it.
