Full Moon

Full Moon Calendar 2019

A clock or a watch is an instrument used by people to keep track of time in this modern age we are living in. However, this was not always the case. Before clocks and watches were invented, the Sun and the Moon played vital roles to help people record time and stay updated with the seasons. They used to figure out when to harvest and when to plant their crops throughout the year by focusing on the movements of the Sun. A new Moon seems to appear every month. Thus, there is a month-long distance between every new Moon.

full moon night

Almost everyone has studied the periodic cycle of the Moon in their textbooks. Many of us may have noticed how the Moon looks different than it looked before as it changes shape every day. A new Moon marks the birth and the death of the lunar cycle. For a short period, the Moon goes dark and invisible to the human eye, but it gradually starts growing until it finally reaches its final shape, i.e. a fully lit round bright moon. This is the full Moon which lasts for a few days until it starts fading away only to repeat its cycle all over again. Due to the technological minds coupled with great minds at work, astronomers can calculate the exact time when a full Moon would appear in the future.

The question often asked is about the strong relationship between wolves and the month of January. It is believed that the wolves are the loudest and strongest during January as it is also considered to be their breeding season. The Seneca tribe has believed for many years that howls of the wolves have led to the creation of the moon as they sang it into the sky. As depicted in the movies or seen and explained by some people how wolves howl to a full Moon. One must know that they are not singing to the moon, but they are only raising their heads so that their loud howls could reach their packs and friends over long distances. How real all of this may sound there is no concrete evidence suggesting a link between wolves and the lunar cycle.

However, the Wolf Moon is said to be the time for humans when they should reach out to their long lost friends and relatives and reconnect with them. It is also an excellent time for us to refocus ourselves and set the goals of our lives for the rest of the year.
